Dereliction of Duty

The commander of US marines battalion, Lt Col Jeffrey R Chessani, is being charged for a bomb killing a US soldier and also known to have killed 24 Iraqi civilians in the village of Haditha. He can be charged with dereliction of duty which means to neglect part of his duty of failing to investigate the deaths. Three other officers are being charged with this dereliction of duty, and three marines are being charged with second degree murder which could lead to them spending life in prison.

Unfortunately, the Haditha incident obviously isn't the only case where this has happend. Even though they are not all being caught, it'ce nice to know that the US will continue to enforce these laws on situations when knowingly they know they can't catch them all. The question still remains... how much longer till the innocent civilians stop dying and our troops come home?
